Memmo is great if you want a European football legend or a local TV personality to record a birthday greeting in your buyer's own language — it built exactly the Cameo playbook for European markets, with local talent and local currencies. It's less great if you're a working creator trying to build an income on it, or if what your audience really wants isn't a recorded clip at all but a live conversation with you.
Two things are worth knowing before you compare alternatives. First, the business has had a rocky ride: Memmo's Swedish parent company, Memmo Family AB, was declared bankrupt by the Stockholm District Court in August 2023. The business was sold out of the bankruptcy estate and the platform continued operating under new ownership — but if you're a creator choosing where to route your audience's money, corporate stability is a fair thing to weigh. Second, Memmo does not publish its talent commission rate the way Cameo publishes its 25%, so you can't do the math on your split before you sign up. We won't invent a number; just know that marketplace shoutout platforms in this category generally take a meaningful double-digit cut.
Here are four alternatives ranked by what they're actually good at, plus an honest case for when Memmo is still the right pick.
Quick comparison
| Platform | Format | Talent economics (as of 2026) | Who brings the buyers? | Live option? |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Cheddify | Live per-minute calls, booked sessions, paid DMs | Published: 20% + $2 per paid call; ~3% processing billed to the buyer | You (your own audience) | Yes — live is the product |
| Cameo | Recorded shoutouts, some live calls | Widely reported 25% platform cut; Apple takes 30% first on iOS-app orders | Marketplace + you | Limited |
| Thrillz | Recorded videos, live calls, experiences (UK) | Not officially published; third-party estimates ~20–25% | Marketplace + you | Yes |
| Ko-fi (commissions) | Custom work you define, incl. personalized videos | Published: 5% on commissions (free plan); 0% with paid Gold plan | You | No |
| Memmo | Recorded shoutouts (European focus) | Commission not publicly published | Marketplace + you | No meaningful live product |
1. Cheddify — best if your audience wants you live, not a recording
Cheddify isn't a shoutout marketplace, and that's the point of ranking it first. It's the link a creator puts in their bio to sell live access to themselves: per-minute video calls your followers can start right now, sessions they can book ahead, and paid DMs. Buyers pay as guests in the browser — no account, no app — and you take calls on the Cheddify iOS or Android app. Where Memmo sells a one-way recording, Cheddify sells a two-way conversation, and a conversation is a fundamentally better product for the people who actually follow you: they don't want a 30-second clip of you saying their name, they want to talk to you.
The economics are published and simple, which is itself a contrast with Memmo: free to claim, 20% plus $2 per paid call, with a ~3% processing fee billed to the buyer on top — so you keep 80% of the billed amount minus $2 (details on the pricing page). On paid DMs the buyer pays exactly your price and roughly 23% comes off your side, leaving you about 77%. Concretely: at $3.00 per minute, a 15-minute call bills $45.00. Your 80% is $36.00, minus the $2 call fee — you keep $34.00, about 76% of the billed amount, while the buyer pays roughly $46.35 with processing. There's no equivalent transparency to compare on Memmo's side, because the split isn't published.
What Cheddify does not do, honestly: it is not a marketplace. There's no browse page, no search, no talent directory — nobody discovers you on Cheddify, and if Memmo's discovery is genuinely sending you orders, Cheddify cannot replace that demand. It also has no recorded-shoutout fulfillment flow: no request queue, no seven-day delivery window, no downloadable video product. The closest analog is a paid DM — a buyer pays to reach you and you reply with a personal video message — but it's a messaging feature, not a Cameo-style pipeline. It's PG-13 only, and small-ticket orders suffer from the $2 per-call fee. Cheddify wins when you already have the audience and want to sell them something live; see how it works.
2. Cameo — best marketplace roster, published economics
Cameo is the original and still the biggest recorded-shoutout marketplace, and unlike Memmo it publishes its split: a widely reported 25% platform cut, with talent keeping 100% of tips. One important asterisk: orders placed through the iOS app go through Apple's in-app purchase system, where Apple's 30% comes off the top before Cameo's share — so where the buyer orders from materially changes what you keep. If you're US-facing talent with any name recognition, Cameo's roster and buyer traffic are the strongest in the category. If you're a regular creator without marquee recognition, marketplace discovery won't save you there either — our guide for regular creators and full Cameo alternatives page cover that gap, and Cheddify vs Cameo does the head-to-head.
3. Thrillz — best European alternative with a live product
Thrillz is the UK-grown analog: personalized celebrity videos plus one-to-one live video calls and experiences, with a roster skewed toward UK sport, music, and TV. For European talent and buyers it's the most direct Memmo substitute that also does live. Like Memmo, though, Thrillz does not officially publish its talent split; third-party estimates put it around 20–25%, and you should confirm your terms directly before onboarding. We compare the field in our Thrillz alternatives guide.
4. Ko-fi commissions — best DIY personalized videos at the lowest fee
If what you sell is personalized recorded videos and you already have the audience, you can skip the marketplace layer entirely. Ko-fi's commissions feature lets you list custom work — including personalized video messages — at a published 5% fee on the free plan (0% if you pay for Ko-fi Gold, around $12/month as of 2026), with money going straight to your Stripe or PayPal. You give up all discovery and any fulfillment tooling; it's a request form and a payment, and you handle delivery yourself. But 5% versus a marketplace's double-digit cut is a serious difference at any volume.
5. Memmo — still the best if European marketplace discovery is your demand
The honest case for staying: Memmo remains one of the few places a European buyer goes looking for European talent, with localized storefronts and local-language browsing that Cameo has never seriously matched. If you're a recognizable name in a Nordic, German, or other European market and Memmo's marketplace genuinely sends you orders you wouldn't otherwise get, that discovery has real value — none of the alternatives above will replicate it, and Cheddify explicitly won't even try. Weigh that against the unpublished commission and the 2023 parent-company bankruptcy, and go in with clear eyes: it can be a fine order channel, but it's a risky place to build your whole income.
How to choose
- You're established European talent and the marketplace sends you real orders: stay on Memmo, and know your split before you rely on it.
- You want the biggest shoutout marketplace with published economics: Cameo, at 25%.
- You're UK-based and want recorded plus live in one marketplace: Thrillz.
- You have your own audience and sell personalized videos: Ko-fi commissions at 5% beats every marketplace cut.
- Your audience wants a real conversation, not a clip: Cheddify. Free to claim, published fees, and the live call — meter, billing, payouts — handled end to end.
One structural truth ties all of this together: marketplaces monetize demand they aggregate, and they charge for it either in commission or in opacity. If your demand already lives in your own bio link, you don't need to rent it back.
